About this role

Allen Control Systems is a defense technology company building precision robotic systems for the United States and its allies. The company is seeking a Software Engineer I/II to develop, enhance, integrate, and support internal and business-facing enterprise applications, while collaborating with engineers and stakeholders on full-stack software solutions, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation.

What you'll do:

  • Develop, test, and maintain applications and software components across the technology stack
  • Enhance existing applications by implementing new features, resolving defects, and improving usability and performance
  • Work with engineers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Build and maintain integrations between enterprise applications using APIs and other integration methods
  • Support enterprise platforms such as Odoo ERP, workflow, and other internal business systems
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established development standards
  • Troubleshoot application issues and assist with identifying root causes and implementing solutions
  • Develop and maintain database queries, application logic, APIs, and user interfaces
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, sprint planning, and other Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) activities
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for applications, integrations, and development processes
  • Learn and apply software engineering best practices related to testing, security, performance, and maintainability
  • Collaborate with more experienced engineers and contribute ideas for improving applications and development processes

What they're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 0–3 years of professional software development experience, including internships, co-ops, academic projects, or equivalent hands-on development experience
  • Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Node.js
  • Familiarity with modern web development concepts and front-end technologies such as React, Angular, Vue.js, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL, including writing SQL queries
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and basic application integration concepts
  • Experience using version control tools such as Git
  • Understanding of fundamental software development concepts, including testing, debugging, object-oriented programming, and source control
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eagerness to learn new technologies
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Internship, academic, or professional experience developing business or enterprise applications
  • Exposure to ERP, CRM, manufacturing, workflow automation, or other enterprise systems
