Software Engineer I

Trellis is hiring a Software Engineer I for its Distributed Applications team. The role supports the development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of web, mobile, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and legacy applications while collaborating with engineers, architects, and internal business partners.

What you'll do:

• Participate in the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications
• Work in a team-oriented environment with flexibility to work independently
• Collaborate with application development team on software products and development methodologies
• Develop, test, debug, and maintain application code using appropriate tools
• Actively participate in peer code reviews, application standards and application performance reviews to improve the quality of software products
• Assist with new and alternate solutions to improve existing processes and procedures
• Conduct research on new products and tools that may assist customers’ business needs
• Test software applications for efficiency and identify any bugs and propose fixes
• Efficiently identify and resolve issues that arise during the design, testing and maintenance processes using problem-solving skills
• Participate in team meetings, requirements analysis, design meetings, and code reviews
• Participate in training and other learning opportunities to ensure compliance and expand knowledge of the company, position, and process
• Follows all corporate policies and procedures and performs all work functions in a safe and efficient manner

What they're looking for:

• * Working experience and understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) technologies – Python and/or Java, exploratory data analysis, preprocessing data for ML model development
• * Experience in development and implementation of one or more Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, models using LLMs and ML services to create business applications
• * AI/ML model training, model validation, performance tuning, and deployment in production
• * Strong working experience in one or more distributed web app technologies – Java, Angular Framework, Node JS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, React JS, SQL, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, oAuth, Restful Webservices, Microservices, Spring integration
• * Ability to work with CI/CD tools – Atlassian tools, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Maven, Git, SVN, Nexus etc. and IDEs – VS Code, Spring Tool Suite, Eclipse, IntelliJ
• * Working knowledge of deploying apps to one or more App servers – Oracle WebLogic, Tomcat etc. and connecting to one or more data bases- SQL Server, DB2, mySQL etc
• * Understand Object-Oriented Design, Unified Modeling Language (UML) Notation, Relational and Non-Relational Standard Query Language (NoSQL) databases
• * Demonstrated experience in requirements analysis, software design, applications development, software testing and implementation in production
• * Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• * Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field. Experience beyond the minimum work experience requirement can be substituted for college hours on a year-for-year basis
• * One (1) year application software development experience from a combination of web technologies, AIML technologies, cloud applications and software tools
• * One (1) year experience in application building, deployment, debugging and running applications on app/web servers as well as cloud platforms
