Software Engineer I, CDS (Onsite - Security Clearance)

RTX, through Collins Aerospace, develops advanced aerospace and defense solutions. The Software Engineer I will support mission-critical systems by analyzing requirements, developing software, collaborating across disciplines, and integrating tested implementations that meet customer and certification standards.

What you'll do:

• Collaborate on System Requirements and Software Development: Join a dynamic software team in a cross-functional environment, contributing to the definition of system requirements and translating them into detailed software requirements, UML/SysML models, and diagrams for a large-scale program
• Effective Communication and Team Collaboration: Work closely with other software engineers and team members to ensure clear communication and collaboration, fostering a cohesive, solution-focused environment across multiple disciplines
• Develop Code to Meet Customer and Certification Standards: Collaborate with your team to maintain, enhance, and develop software that aligns with customer requirements and meets certification standards, ensuring both functionality and compliance
• Software Implementation in Test Environments: Take responsibility for producing high-quality software implementations and integrating them within testing environments, ensuring the code is thoroughly tested and meets all specified requirements

What they're looking for:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
• Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written)
• Educational knowledge and project application on software development using Python, C++, or similar, including debugging, integration, and deployment on software platforms
• Familiarity with software development processes (e.g., Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD) and tools (e.g., Git, Gitlab, JIRA)
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance after start date
• You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered
• Knowledge in basic Linux shell scripting, Python or Perl
• Working knowledge of programming languages such as C++ or C#
• Software level debugging experience
• Knowledge of Database language such as SQL
• Familiarity with Git, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, and Coverity
