Software Engineer I (Secret)

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer I to support NIWC Pacific’s Information Technology Management Support Services program. The role develops, integrates, maintains, and secures mission-critical applications and services for Department of Defense operations using modern programming languages and DevSecOps practices in an Agile environment.

What you'll do:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain software applications using Python, JavaScript, and other modern programming languages
• Design and support REST APIs, SOAP services, and GraphQL interfaces
• Implement secure coding practices and support software development in compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements
• Contribute to DevSecOps, CI/CD, Agile Scrum, and Test-Driven Development (TDD) initiatives
• Design and maintain database schemas, application architectures, and technical documentation
• Troubleshoot software issues and optimize system performance and reliability
• Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and customers to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in software testing, code reviews, and deployment activities

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related technical discipline
• Experience developing software applications using Python, JavaScript, or similar technologies
• Knowledge of API development, database design, and enterprise application architecture
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevSecOps principles
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Active DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification required, including one of the following:
• Security+
• CySA+
• SSCP
• GSEC
• GICSP
