Software Engineer Intern

MITRE is a nonprofit engineering, applied research, and advanced technology organization working in the public interest. The Software Engineer Intern will improve software quality, architecture, and long-term sustainability by building full stack web applications, applying software engineering best practices, and developing prototypes independently and collaboratively.

What you'll do:

• Build full stack web application utilizing modern web frameworks and methodologies
• Demonstrate expertise in industry standard best practices for software design, implementation, testing, and documentation
• Apply rapid prototyping techniques and agile methodologies
• Work independently and on teams to develop software prototypes using modern software engineering techniques with minimal instruction, guidance, and direction

What they're looking for:

• Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Computer Science or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship
• Sustained excellence in academic performance
• Experience with programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python and C++
• Experience with one or more modern web development framework (Vue.js, React, Angular, etc.)
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Demonstrated interest in serving the public
