About this role

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, develops aerospace and defense technologies that support safer, more connected operations. The Software Engineer Intern will help develop secure cross-domain software by defining requirements, creating models and diagrams, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and implementing and testing software that meets customer and certification requirements.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate on System Requirements and Software Development by defining system requirements and translating them into detailed software requirements, UML/SysML models, and diagrams for a large-scale program
  • Work closely with other software engineers and team members to ensure clear communication and collaboration, fostering a cohesive, solution-focused environment across multiple disciplines
  • Collaborate with your team to maintain, enhance, and develop software that aligns with customer requirements and meets certification standards, ensuring both functionality and compliance
  • Take responsibility for producing high-quality software implementations and integrating them within testing environments, ensuring the code is thoroughly tested and meets all specified requirements

What they're looking for:

  • • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in an applicable discipline and actively enrolled through completion of the internship / co-op session
  • • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
  • • Experience with development tool sets, for example, Jira, Subversion/Git/Version Management
  • • Comfortable working with C, C++, Rust
  • • Security focused mindset
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • • Active and transferable SECRET clearance is required prior to start date
  • • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • • Experience with requirements analysis and requirements decomposition
  • • Experience working with embedded software
  • • Experience with virtualization
  • • Knowledge of microservices, containers and orchestrators
