About this role
Principal is a financial services company that develops technology-enabled financial tools to help customers achieve financial security. The Software Engineer Intern will contribute to software and systems development across the design, testing, deployment, maintenance, and improvement lifecycle while collaborating in Agile teams and gaining cloud experience.
What you'll do:
- Delivering customer centric solutions that incorporate desired capabilities, security, scalability, and performance
- Collaborating with your scrum team to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software and systems while also gaining cloud experience
- Solving interesting and complex problems to create a positive customer experience
- Partnering with architecture, technical engineers, and other stakeholders on application design and architecture
- Aiding in improving operations, documenting and demonstrating solutions, and ensuring software is updated and secure
- Developing maintainable and high-quality software by integrating automation tests and following standard processes as laid out by the team
What they're looking for:
- You are currently pursuing or have completed an undergraduate degree program - in a preferred science, technology, engineering, or math-related field of study
- You are involved in student organizations on your respective campus, within the community, or have prior internship experience
- You have exceptional communication and organizational skills and a strong work ethic
- You have a passion for technology including technical curiosity and ability to think critically and solution for technology-based problems

- Leadership positions within student, work, or community organizations
- Previous IT internship or relevant work experience
- Proven continuous learning through certifications and/or other non-traditional learning paths
- Development in Java, Python, React, JavaScript, Git, AWS
- Data visualization technologies - R, Business Objects, Informatica, PowerBI, SAS
- Automation tooling
- DevOps, Agile methodologies
