Software Engineer Internship – Technology Business Development & Client Solutions

Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield is a health insurance company offering a summer internship program that provides hands-on professional development and experience in the health insurance industry. The Software Engineer Intern will support member-, employer-, and provider-facing digital applications through production troubleshooting, full-stack feature development, accessibility improvements, and application support maintenance.

What you'll do:

• Collaborate with Technology and business stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve production support issues
• Active participation in team ceremonies for work breakdown, estimation, sequencing, and continuous improvement
• Full stack development opportunities for new features
• Contribute to creating inclusive, accessible, and user-friendly websites by applying WCAG best practices
• Develop business knowledge of the application necessary to effectively provide support maintenance

What they're looking for:

• Current junior or senior student pursing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field
• Knowledge of software development technologies (NodeJS, Angular, .NET, MongoDB, SQL)
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills. Accuracy and high attention to detail and self-starter
• Ability to troubleshoot and develop creative technical solutions
• Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel)
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Prior work experience in an office environment or internship
