Software Engineering, Associate - Herndon, VA

Peraton is a national security company and enterprise IT provider delivering mission-critical solutions for government agencies and the U.S. armed forces. The Associate Software Engineer will support the development, operation, and maintenance of mission-critical enterprise capabilities, including modernized cloud-native and microservice-based products. The role involves Java full-stack development, Agile and DevOps practices, application and library maintenance, and database feature development.

What you'll do:

• Candidate will apply agile development processes to implement features as defined by user stories, 3-week Sprints/3 Month Spins
• Development using Java full stack
• Develop/maintain platform related applications and libraries
• Develop/maintain existing applications as requirements are requested and when updates are required
• Candidate will resolve database issues and create new features/functionality for existing database

What they're looking for:

• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph prior to starting
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related technical or scientific fields, such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, information technology, management information systems, or related STEM degree program and 0-2 years of experience
• Strong foundational knowledge working with Java OOP development
• Willingness to learn and become an effective team member
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• An already active TS/SCI security clearance
• 3.0 and above GPA
• Demonstrated experience with the systems engineering life-cycle
• Previous hands-on experience through coursework or internships
• Previous hands-on coding experience with Python, Angular, Postgres, & SQL
