Software Engineering Intern

MITRE is a nonprofit engineering, applied research, and advanced technology organization working in the public interest on national security and other critical challenges. The Software Engineering Intern will contribute to real-world government-sponsored projects, developing software architecture and engineering skills across cloud, distributed systems, full-stack development, embedded systems, and machine learning applications.

As part of the Cloud & Distributed Software Systems department, you will develop your software architecture and engineering skills while delivering computing capabilities wherever they are best suited to address the challenges of our sponsors
• While responding to these challenges, you will leverage and grow your hands-on skills with software design and development, engaging in the full software engineering lifecycle using modern technologies
• Cloud Engineering
• DevSecOps
• Full-Stack Development
• Embedded Systems and Internet of Things
• Practical Applications of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

What they're looking for:

• * Sustained excellence in academic performance
• * Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship
• * **This position has an on-site requirement of 3 days a week minimum.**
• * **Prior experience as an intern at MITRE in the last 12 months.**
• * Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
• * Familiarity with Cloud Services Providers (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.)
• * Knowledge of software design patterns
• * Knowledge of database technologies, including relational or NoSQL
• * Knowledge of Generative Pretrained and Large Language Models and use in the Software Development Lifecycle
