Software Engineering Intern/Co-op Summer 2027

Island is an enterprise security and browser technology company building a Chromium-based platform for secure enterprise work. The Software Engineering Intern/Co-op will join the AI Protect Web or File Protection team, working on real product tickets and shippable code involving AI application visibility, data protection, browser extensions, web applications, and backend services.

What you'll do:

• Auditing and visibility of AI web applications
• Enrichment and classification of AI interactions
• Implementing data protection policies for file downloads and uploads
• Integrating with third-party APIs for anti-malware and DLP scanning

What they're looking for:

• Accountability. You say what you'll do, then you do it, and you flag it early when you can't
• Ownership. You treat the problem as yours until it's solved, not until it's handed off
• Currently pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or building your way there on your own
• React
• Any object-oriented language (C#, Java, or similar)
• SQL, ideally Postgres
• Chrome extension development
• Snowflake
• General AWS knowledge
