Software Engineering Intern - Power Systems

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join its Engineering Services team. The role supports the design, implementation, and testing of software tools used for power system protection and control, including software development, automated scripting, and requirements verification.

What you'll do:

• Supporting SEL’s software development process
• Implementing software design and automated scripts
• Verifying that software meets requirements
• Providing support to engineering staff as needed

What they're looking for:

• Are a current student pursuing a degree in Computer Science or equivalent with at least one year of technical coursework completed, and graduating in May or December 2028
• Are able to work on-site in Boise, ID full-time in the summer & part-time during the school year
• Have experience with Python and C#
• Have an understanding of digital logic and Boolean equations
• Are able to learn new software, understand APIs required to interact with various software platforms
• Are able to execute and document defined testing procedures
• Have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
• Are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
• Are able to work cooperatively in a team environment
• Have optional experience with VBA, Java, Perl, Ruby and C++
