About this role
Docusign develops intelligent agreement management solutions that help organizations create, commit to, and manage agreements. The Software Engineering Intern will help build a self-service diagnostics panel for directory administrators, implement and test directory features, improve observability, and collaborate with engineering, UX, and support teams to diagnose and remediate directory issues.
What you'll do:
- Contribute to the design and implementation of a self-service diagnostics panel for org/tenant admins, focusing on clear checks, remediation suggestions, and a safe, auditable experience
- Implement well-scoped directory features with strong attention to quality, including unit, integration, and functional tests alongside feature development
- Use existing metrics, logs, and telemetry to understand system behavior; with guidance from senior engineers, diagnose directory issues across distributed services such as Directory Service, SCIM integrations, and admin UX flows
- Improve observability for directory health signals (e.g., drift between IdP and Docusign, conflicting identities, stale groups) by enhancing metrics, logging, and dashboards
- Interpret product requirements and contribute to technical design docs for diagnostics workflows and directory-related features, applying solid knowledge of algorithms, data structures, APIs, and resource management
- Collaborate closely with Directory, UX, and support partners to ensure diagnostics flows are usable, reliable, and aligned with customer needs
- Communicate progress, blockers, and design decisions clearly in both written and verbal form; participate in sprint rituals, demos, and design reviews, and know when to ask for help or escalate issues appropriately
What they're looking for:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field), with an expected graduation date within the standard Docusign intern program window
- Graduating December 2027, May/June 2028
- Experience in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Java, C#, or Go
- Experience in at least one front-end or web technology such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or React
- Experience with core computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking
- Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis without the need for current or future sponsorship
- Pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field
- Interest in identity, directory systems, and admin/operational tooling
- Exposure to distributed systems concepts, RESTful APIs, or microservices-based architectures
- Familiarity with telemetry/observability tools (metrics, logs, dashboards) and a data-driven approach to debugging
- Experience with collaborative software development practices (code reviews, version control, documentation)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment
Benefits:
- Paid Time Off: earned time off, as well as paid company holidays based on region
- Paid Parental Leave: take up to six months off with your child after birth, adoption or foster care placement
- Full Health Benefits Plans: options for 100% employer paid and minimum employee contribution health plans from day one of employment
- Retirement Plans: select retirement and pension programs with potential for employer contributions
- Learning and Development: options for coaching, online courses and education reimbursements
- Compassionate Care Leave: paid time off following the loss of a loved one and other life-changing events
- Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)
