Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)

Raytheon offers internship opportunities in the aerospace and defense industry, including work on complex software and mission-critical applications. The Software Engineering Intern will support software development, testing, integration, and other activities across the software life cycle while collaborating with software and systems engineers.

What you'll do:

• This position is for a Software Engineering Intern who has educational experience in the development and implementation of software for mission critical applications
• Use and provide creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems
• Work closely with other software engineers and systems engineers to design ideal solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind
• Support all aspects of a software development life cycle as a member of a multi-disciplined team. This includes supporting new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements, to design, development, integration, test, and potentially subsequent maintenance tasking

What they're looking for:

• Must have an : Active Secret security clearance
• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in an applicable discipline and actively enrolled through completion of the internship / co-op session
• Demonstrated programming experience with one or more object-oriented languages such as C++, C# or Java
• Classroom or other experience with software life-cycle stages such as requirements, design, development, integration, and test
• Able to work closely in a multi-discipline team daily
• Strong Analytical skills
• Developing software in a Linux environment
• Understanding of software systems design, integration, and management
• Experience using a Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), e.g., Linux, Green Hills (GH) Integrity, VxWorks, or other
• Experience using software optimization techniques and timing analysis to ensure real-time operation and synchronization of software products
• Proficiency utilizing software debugging tools to troubleshoot software implementation and ensure integrity of the software products
• Experience developing requirements for software products
