What We're Looking For:

Education

  • 2 Year / Associate Degree — Preferred
  • Other — Required: Graduate of ARRT-approved Sonography Program; or CAAHEP-recognized Sonography Program

Experience

  • 1 year — Required: Minimum of one year of experience in vascular sonography

Licensure/Certification

  • Certified and registered by ARRT in Vascular Sonography or certified and registered by ARDMS in Vascular Technology or certified and registered by CCI in Vascular Specialist RT(S)(VS), or RDMS,RT(VS) or RDMS,RVT,VT, or RT(S)(RVS), RDMS,(RVS) — Required

Additional Skills/Requirements – Required

  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing
  • Possess good communication skills
  • Capability to function alone and work independently in diagnostic rooms
  • Has working knowledge of various types of ultrasound equipment
  • Able to adapt to new and various situations and procedures according to age of patient served
  • Has ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs
  • Basic computer skills

 

What You'll Do:
  • Prepare patients for procedures and assume responsibility for patient needs during examinations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy, pathology, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Modify care appropriately based on the patient’s age, condition, and abilities.
  • Follow established protocols and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety.
  • Identify, prepare, and administer medications, including contrast media, as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Perform venipuncture as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluate images for quality, accurate patient identification, and anatomical laterality.
  • Ensure examinations are completed according to established protocols.
  • Ensure timely review and transfer of images and pertinent clinical information to a licensed practitioner.
  • Properly operate EMR, RIS, and PACS systems.
