About the Role

Hello, Special Education Coordinators! Ampersand Therapy is hiring a Special Education Coordinator to support Lotus School for Excellence in Aurora, CO. This role is ideal for an experienced special education professional who is passionate about leadership, compliance, and student support.

The Special Education Coordinator will oversee special education programming for grades 6–12 while supporting IEP processes, leading department initiatives, and serving as a key liaison between the school and district. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by guiding special education staff, ensuring compliance, and helping students receive the services they need to succeed.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support the special education department for grades 6–12

  • Oversee special education compliance and program implementation

  • Coordinate IEP meetings, evaluations, and documentation processes

  • Serve as a liaison between the school, district, staff, and families

  • Support and mentor special education teachers and service providers

  • Monitor student progress and program effectiveness

  • Provide guidance on special education practices and compliance
     

What We're Looking For

  • Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Education license

  • Special Education experience preferred

  • Leadership, coordinator, or department lead experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance

  • Experience supporting students in grades 6–12 preferred

  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
