Job Overview

As a Special Forces Candidate, you’ll be training to become a Green Beret, one of the most highly skilled Soldiers in the world. To join the Army elite, you must complete extensive mental and physical training. There are four entry-level Special Forces Military Occupational Specialties, and your specialty will be decided based on your background, aptitude, and the needs of the Army.

Requirements

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Meet Tattoo Guidelines
  • No Major Law Violations
  • No Medical Concerns
  • Be 18 years old by ship date and not have turned 32 prior to leaving

Testing & Certifications

  • 22 weeks of Infantry One Station Unit Training
  • 4 week Special Operations Forces Preparation Course and the Special Forces Assessment & Selection Course, following Airborne School
  • ASVAB Score: General Technical (GT): 110
  • ASVAB Score: Combat (CO): 100

18X offers a path to citizenship for Lawful Permanent Residents, who can begin training immediately. Citizenship is a requirement for passing a secret security clearance, but you can apply for expedited naturalization and candidacy for the Special Forces if you’ve had a valid Green Card (officially known as an I-551 Permanent Resident Card) for at least six months.
