The School of Earth Environment and Sustainability is seeking an Education Support Services Specialist.

This position provides coordination and administrative support for the SEES Speaker Program on Human-Environment Relationships & Earth Science (SPHERES), including the planning and execution of events, coordination of travel and visit logistics for invited speakers and guests, and management of program-related communications and partnerships. This position will leverage connections established through SPHERES and related outreach efforts to design, implement, and administer a comprehensive internship program for SEES students, including employer partnership development, student support, and program assessment.

This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.

Position is onsite.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the development of the SEES internship program.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to assist students in securing appropriate internships.
  • Develop policies and standardized procedures for evaluating student’s progress in internships.
  • Coordinate and manage large- and small-scale events from planning through execution, including logistics, vendor coordination, scheduling, registration, communications, and on-site support to ensure successful even outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for guest and speaker visits, managing travel arrangements, accommodations, schedules, and related logistics to facilitate successful engagements and visits.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, student development, counseling or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing a comparable level of expertise.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year administrative, supervisory, and/or program management experience.
  • Experience working with students, interns, or other early-career professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • At least three years administrative, supervisory, and/or program management experience.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. higher education, counseling) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in the area of recruitment, internships, and placement. 
  • Experience in public speaking, technical writing, and/or teaching.
  • Familiar with university policies and procedures.
