About this role
Under regular supervision, the senior performance engineer performs tasks and assignments necessary to maintain and increase asset performance across the fleet by leveraging big data. The senior performance engineer will be responsible for using data systems to capture performance and asset data and utilizing that data to optimize asset performance. The senior performance engineer may also provide oversight and direction for performance engineer I and II and may provide assistance to managers and principal engineers on higher-level projects.
Responsibilities
Develop dashboards and reports for engineering and operations personnel to be able to quickly gauge performance and identify underperforming generation assets. (30%)
Provide engineers data to help develop strategy for projects and optimization of generation assets. Encourage the interchange of information, ideas and techniques related to performance while leveraging HPI tools. (20%)
Execute engineering strategy with operations personnel and engineers to track and solve technical issues affecting generation assets. Provide local operations groups and engineering group data analysis to achieve case resolution and root cause analysis. (20%)
Provide performance information for use in final reports to management in a professional and accurate manner. Provide various generation analyses, metrics and performance reports. (20%)
Provide data to investigate any new technologies as assigned. (10%)
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned and required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution. Five years of industry experience as a practicing engineer. PE license preferred.
Effective oral and written communication skills consistent with the ability to present to MidAmerican Energy Company leadership.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to understand technical and functional requirements as they relate to project objectives and project planning activities.
Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills to properly analyze cost/benefit scenarios and determine impact assessments.
Must have the ability to analyze large amounts of data to identify performance issues.
