About this role

Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

Schwab Wealth & Asset Management Engineering (WAME) Technology, part of Schwab Technology Services (STS), powers the research, portfolio management, and trading platforms that help institutional and retail clients achieve their investing goals. As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will play a key role in building and evolving modern applications that support front-office investment management capabilities while helping drive the technical strategy behind highly scalable, secure, and resilient solutions. Working within a collaborative Agile environment, you will partner closely with engineers, architects, product teams, and quality specialists to deliver innovative technology that directly impacts business outcomes and client experiences.

In this role, you will design, develop, and implement full-stack solutions using modern web and cloud technologies while contributing to service-oriented and event-driven architectures. You will help ensure quality through automated testing, CI/CD practices, and production support activities that strengthen platform reliability and performance. Your technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams will be critical as you help evaluate emerging technologies, contribute to proof-of-concept initiatives, and mentor junior engineers. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing team where innovation, continuous learning, and ownership are valued and encouraged.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of full-stack application development experience, including experience mentoring and supporting junior software engineers.
  • 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing web-based applications using .NET, .NET Core, C#, Angular and/or AngularJS.
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience working with messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ or similar event-streaming platforms.
  • Experience developing solutions using JSON, XML, synchronous and asynchronous services.
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) and relational database design concepts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of application architecture, web application environments, session management, deployment strategies, security, performance optimization, and debugging methodologies.
  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and participation on Scrum teams.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with development and delivery tools such as Git, Jenkins, Bamboo, Jira, MTM, Zephyr, or similar platforms.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications and microservices architectures.
  • Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry or comparable private/public cloud platforms.
  • Experience supporting portfolio management, investment research, trading, or financial services technology platforms.
  • Knowledge of modern software architecture patterns, distributed systems, and scalable application design.
  • Experience evaluating emerging technologies and contributing to proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical innovation while balancing business objectives, quality, and operational excellence.

In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
