About this role
HHM Hotels operates hotel properties and a corporate office. The Staff Accountant will maintain fixed asset records, manage property tax compliance, process invoices and payments, prepare journal entries and reconciliations, and support financial reporting and month-end and year-end close activities.
What you'll do:
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger for multiple hotel properties and the corporate office, including recording additions, disposals, and transfers
- Calculate and record monthly depreciation, and reconcile fixed asset balances to the general ledger
- Manage property tax compliance, including tracking assessments and due dates, reviewing and processing tax bills, and supporting the appeals process as needed
- Process vendor invoices and code them to the correct general ledger accounts, departments, and cost centers; process weekly payment runs
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and depreciation
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and reports, including variance analysis and supporting schedules
- Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation and assist with gathering support for audit requests
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and support special projects as assigned
What they're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- 0–2 years of accounting experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and core accounting concepts, including debits, credits, and account reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data and deadlines
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative, can-do attitude and eagerness to learn and grow in an accounting career
