Staff Accountant

KatzAbosch is a Maryland accounting firm providing accounting, tax, financial, and management consulting services. The Staff Accountant supports client accounting and tax engagements by entering financial data, preparing reports and tax returns, assisting with audits, performing reconciliations, and collaborating with clients and team members.

What you'll do:

• Assist in entering and updating financial data in accounting software under the guidance of senior staff
• Follow internal procedures to ensure data is entered correctly and consistently
• Work with senior accountants to prepare reports using system-generated data
• Communicate professionally with clients via email or phone to request documents or clarify information
• Ensure all client information is kept confidential and stored securely
• Help with onboarding new clients by collecting initial documentation and setting up files
• Attend and participate in team meetings, taking notes and following up on assigned action items
• Monitor progress of assigned accounting or tax projects and provide status updates to managers
• Prepare accurate and timely business and individual tax returns in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
• Assist in the execution of audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork, and documentation
• Complete payroll tax returns, personal property tax filings, and extension requests as required
• Perform reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness

What they're looking for:

• CPA License or seeking to obtain CPA in the future
• Accounting Degree or equivalent experience
• Microsoft Products, Outlook, Deltek, GoFileRoom, ProSystem, Caseware, and Auditdashboard
• Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and analytical skills, ability to work independently and multitask while meeting deadlines
• Completion of accounting coursework or prior professional experience in an accounting
