Staff Accountant – Entry Level - JARS Cannabis

JARS Cannabis is seeking an entry-level Staff Accountant to support its accounting team in Phoenix. The role assists with monthly close, reconciliations, expense and budget reporting, audit preparation, and general ledger activities while working with Senior Accountants.

What you'll do:

• Assist with monthly financial close procedures, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Review and process credit card transactions, AMEX expenses, marketing invoices, and departmental expenses
• Assist with tracking accrued liabilities, expense accounts, and other balance sheet accounts
• Support the preparation and presentation of budget reports and financial analyses
• Compile financial records, schedules, and supporting documentation for internal and external audits
• Assist with fixed asset tracking, depreciation, and other general ledger activities
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and internal controls
• Collaborate with Senior Accountants on accounting projects, reporting, and process improvements
• Support additional accounting and finance functions as business needs arise

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 0–2 years of accounting experience
• Foundational knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), account reconciliations, balance sheet accounts, fixed assets, and depreciation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members and learn new accounting processes
• Public accounting, auditing, or internship experience
• Internship or other hands-on experience in accounting, finance, or public accounting
• Exposure to financial audits, audit documentation, and audit preparation
• Familiarity with ERP systems or accounting software
• Experience as a teaching assistant for accounting courses
