The Recovery & Self-Motivation program is a long-term treatment program at Fulton State Hospital, intended to help clients often diagnosed with a primary psychotic disorder (such as schizophrenia or delusional disorders) or major mood disorders. Primary or secondary personality disorders, particularly antisocial personality disorder, are also common to RSM clients. Therapy on RSM focuses on improving insight and management of symptoms of mental illness by rewarding prosocial practices, collaborating on shared goals, and instituting justice opportunities. RSM strives to help clients develop an adaptive, independent, and prosocial approach to functioning. Treatment is rooted in the belief that each person is capable of achieving a life of personal value that also allows for meaningful connection.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

• Responsible for learning and participating in all Staff Development training processes including but not limited to SMART, NEO, BPTC, CPR/HCP, Program Training, etc.
• Shares a rotating training schedule with other Staff Development Trainers.
• Develops, delivers and/or coordinates the delivery of all training, including situation management and physical intervention training (SMART).
• Coordinates all presentations and training delivered to new hires in different disciplines (NEO)
• Obtains certification in DMH Way skills in order to facilitate trainings.
• Assists hospital and program leadership in identifying staff training needs across disciplines
• Works collaboratively with assigned treatment program to identify program-specific training, development, or in-service needs.
• Provides staff support and coverage in living areas as needed and assigned by program leadership.
• Participates in regular drills and opportunities for staff to practice skills taught in class.
• Structures all training content to include a trauma informed lens
• Seeks to innovate the staff training processes.
• Other duties as assigned by Staff Development Supervisor.

Qualifications - All you need for success

Minimum Qualifications

•         High School Diploma or GED preferred.

•         Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business, Social Work, or related field preferred but not required.

•         Prior psychiatric technician experience preferred.

•         Exhibits well developed communication skills. Can professionally receive and follow oral instructions in English.

•         Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships.

•         Exhibits safe and productive work habits.

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of experience as a Staff Development Trainer with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.
• Two or more years of professional supervisory experience with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.
