About this role

CMC is a company operating in steel, construction reinforcement, and ground stabilization industries. The Electrical Engineering Intern will gain hands-on experience in industrial and engineering technologies, support process improvement initiatives, identify cost-saving opportunities, troubleshoot work-related problems, and participate in safety programs.

What you'll do:

  • Cross-train through the department to learn hands-on skills related to industrial/engineering technologies
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend cost saving opportunities by identifying process, quality and safety related improvement projects
  • Work closely with other on the CMC Team work on process improvement initiatives & projects
  • Presentation/Report on an improvement project at the end of internship
  • Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
  • Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture

What they're looking for:

  • Must possess a strong interest in Industrial Engineering Technologies and be enrolled at Junior/Senior level education
  • Able to work a flexible schedule to include 40 hour work weeks during summer (June-August)
  • Able to work independently, take initiative and drive for results with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of processes in Microsoft windows, engineering software such as Auto CAD and Solid Works
  • Ability to understand and apply ISO work instructions and standard operating practices and procedures
  • Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
  • Push and pull up to 90 lbs and carry 50 lbs
  • Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak and understand English language in verbal and written communication
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field at time of internship
  • Previous internship experiences preferred
  • Junior level or higher preferred
