The student assistant provides front‑line support for departmental inquiries, assists faculty and staff with administrative tasks, contributes to event planning, and serves as a positive ambassador for the department. This position plays a key role in maintaining smooth operations and enhancing the student and faculty experience.
Responsibilities
- Inquiry Support — Serve as a point of contact for students, faculty, and visitors; respond to questions and direct individuals to appropriate university resources.
- Department Administrative Assistance — Support department coordinator with department/faculty needs, such as preparing printed materials, organizing documents, formatting reports, and coordinating small projects.
- General Office Operations — Assist with organizing shared spaces, creating faculty schedule signage, assist maintain supply inventory, distributing mail, and supporting daily workflow.
- Event Planning Support — Help coordinate department events including workshops, speaker series, orientations, and recognition ceremonies; assist with logistics, materials, RSVPs, and on‑site support.
- Department Ambassador Duties — Represent the Department of Psychology in a friendly and professional manner; support outreach efforts and help promote departmental programs and initiatives.
- Special Projects — Contribute to ad‑hoc projects and emerging departmental needs with flexibility and initiative.
Required Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Comfort interacting with peers, faculty, and staff
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Qualtrics, and SharePoint
