About this role
Student employees supplement the activities of the full-time staff at the Doris Z. Stone Latin American Library and Research Center (DSLAL) by providing assistance during peak work periods and/or assisting the Curator of Special Collections with archival processing for the semester. This position is to begin as soon as agreed upon for the semester and end on a determined basis. No more than 20 hours per week is allowed for all combined student positions. Please keep this in mind when applying for this position.
Pay Rate: $12-14.00/hour
Hours of Operation: 8:00 – 4:00 pm, Mondays to Fridays
Location: Howard-Tilton Memorial Library, 4th Floor
Training will be provided for all tasks.
Responsibilities
Job duties may include the following:
- Reshelving, also sort and prepare book trucks to be reshelved.
- Shifting, as needed, in order to accommodate new books on overloaded shelves.
- Help to check book vendor catalogs.
- Prepare informational packets for DSLAL events.
- Review/check newly cataloged books and newspapers for processing/labeling errors
- Assistance with DSLAL events.
- Answer phones and general clerical assistance as needed.
- Basic to moderate computer skills for word processing and data input.
Qualifications
- Active enrollment as a student at Tulane University
- PREFERRED: Spanish language skills
