STUDENT INTERN - IT SECURITY (HDQ)

Basin Electric Power Cooperative is seeking a Student Intern to support its IT Security team. The intern will assist with cybersecurity monitoring, vulnerability management, identity and access management, security assessments, compliance activities, research, documentation, and security-related projects.

What you'll do:

• Assist with monitoring security alerts and events from cybersecurity tools and platforms
• Support vulnerability management activities, including identification, tracking, and remediation efforts
• Assist with identity and access management processes, including user access reviews and privileged access controls
• Support security projects involving tools such as endpoint protection, security monitoring, certificate lifecycle management, and cloud security solutions
• Assist with security assessments, audits, compliance activities, and documentation efforts
• Research emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices
• Help develop and maintain security procedures, standards, and awareness materials
• Support vulnerability management activities, including vulnerability scanning, reporting, tracking remediation efforts, and validating corrective actions
• Perform other duties as assigned

What they're looking for:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be enrolled as a full-time student in a two year Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related discipline program with at least 1 year completed, or recent graduate (within the past 12 months)
• Be enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, an Engineering Accreditation Commission/ Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) Computer Engineering program, or a related field with at least two years completed
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
• Hold a valid driver's license
• Transcript required at time of application
• This position requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds
• It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination
• It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines
• This position uses small hand tools
• This position requires finger dexterity, good hearing, and color vision, the ability to perform close work, and the ability to speak
• The incumbent must be able to analyze data and reports, conduct research, and implement recommendations
