About this role

Tucson Electric Power is a dynamic energy company seeking a Student Intern to support its Corporate or Plant Accounting departments. The intern will gain hands-on experience with accounting systems, financial reporting, month-end close activities, variance analysis, and special projects.

What you'll do:

  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare financial schedules and reports for internal stakeholders
  • Support variance analysis
  • Utilize Oracle, PowerPlan, and Excel to extract, analyze, and present financial data
  • Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions
  • Contribute to special projects and ad hoc requests

What they're looking for:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours) at an accredited university
  • Must have completed at least 60 credit hours toward a major in Accounting
  • Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and organizational skills
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 15 and up to 20 hours per week during the academic year, with availability during regular business hours. During summer break must be available to work a minimum of 30 and up to 40 hours per week
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Student should be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline with a graduation date no earlier than May 2028
  • Must maintain full-time student status and good academic standing. Failure to meet these academic requirements may result in removal from the internship program
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
