The Student Research Assistant supports faculty-led research conducted by Professor Vivian Yan-Gonzalez on The Political Impacts of the Asian American Movement. This position provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on research experience through archival research, document organization, administrative support, and collaboration on an active academic research project.
Responsibilities
- Scan, organize, and maintain archival research documents and materials.
- Assist with formatting, editing, and cleaning citations and footnotes in research manuscripts and drafts.
- Provide administrative support related to research activities and project management.
- Organize research files, records, and materials for the Principal Investigator (PI).
- Attend regular meetings with the PI to discuss project progress and assigned tasks.
- Support additional research-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Current Chapman University student in good academic standing.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive research materials responsibly.
- Ability to complete tasks accurately and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience assisting with academic, historical, political science, sociology, or humanities research.
- Experience working with archival materials, document management, or data organization.
- Interest in political science, history, Asian American studies, sociology, or related fields.
- Strong editing, proofreading, and research skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative on assigned projects.
