Overview
Under the direction of a Perinatal sonographer and Perinatal physician, performs Diagnostic and Interventional Ultrasound BPPs (Biophysical Profile) at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of tasks to assist the Perinatal Sonographer with room prep, procedure prep, report writing detail, and any other tasks deemed appropriate per the Perinatal Sonographer or physician.

Responsibilities
- Performs US procedures under the direct supervision of a Perinatal Sonographer II until competency has been observed and documented. Once deemed competent in each procedure, may perform under indirect supervision.
Will demonstrate proficiency in US scans as the training progresses. - Assist the Perinatologist in the interpretation of the technical aspects of the completed examination for BPPs.
- Provides proper explanation of procedure to patients, their families, and others as needed to ensure the patients understanding of the examination to be performed.
- Assists the Perinatal sonographer in coordinating the ultrasound schedule for patients and procedures for efficient patient flow with proper room prep and supplies needed.
- Maintains knowledge of all Ultrasound Equipment in the department.
- Makes sure all ultrasound rooms are fully stocked and supplies needed are ordered when necessary.
- Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination while assisting Physicians and Perinatologist with procedures as applicable.
- Assists in the transfer of patients to and from the examination table and provides proper immobilization devices for positioning or transporting as required.
- Works with the Perinatal Sonographer to complete reports and completes additional paperwork for record keeping, and aids in the proper storage of completed exams.
Qualifications
Education: Current student in an ultrasound technology school with graduation within one year of hire.
Experience: Previous Ultrasound experience in performing OB scans in a clinical setting.
License(s)/Certification(s): CPR certified within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Perform functions under the stress of conflicting demands, deadlines, and time constraints. Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and web browser. Professionalism and relationship management. Ability to handle multiple interruptions and changing priorities.
