About this role
Momentive is a global advanced materials company focused on silicones and specialty products. The Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer Intern will support capital and reliability projects at a chemical manufacturing facility, gaining experience across project scoping, engineering design, procurement, cost tracking, construction support, and execution. The role also involves developing technical documentation, coordinating vendors, supporting field installations, and presenting project results.
What you'll do:
- Assist with the planning, development, and execution of electrical and instrumentation improvement projects across the facility
- Enter and manage projects within SAP Project Portfolio Management (PPM) while tracking project milestones, budgets, and progress
- Support project teams in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within scope
- Maintain project schedules, spending forecasts, and budget tracking tools using SAP and Microsoft Excel
- Monitor project status and communicate progress to engineering stakeholders
- Assist with project reporting and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Update and create engineering drawings using existing plant documentation and CAD software
- Support the preparation of technical packages for instrumentation and electrical equipment replacements
- Ensure documentation accurately reflects field conditions and project requirements
- Obtain quotations and technical information from equipment suppliers and contractors
- Assist in evaluating vendor proposals and equipment options
- Create purchase requisitions and support procurement activities through SAP
What they're looking for:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline
- Strong interest in electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, project engineering, or manufacturing operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within project teams and interact with a broad range of personnel
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a hands-on industrial environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship
- The candidate is expected to be available 40 hours a week for a period of 10-12 weeks between the months of May and August
- Coursework in electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, power distribution, automation, or project management
