The transportation planner conducts transportation planning studies, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, related to all modes of transportation. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision. 

 

What you’ll do:   

  • Conducts data analysis and produce maps with geographic information systems (GIS) software.
  • Assists with the development of asset management plans and regional transportation plans.
  • Investigates, evaluates, and provides recommendations on planning processes and technical solutions that best meet needs of projects, studies, or programs.
  • Conducts research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning, and formulates recommendations. 
  • Facilitates and participates in project, policy, study, and program meetings with multi-disciplinary team, consultant, local government partners, stakeholders, public, and others.
  • Analyzes and prepares planning elements that are part of typical planning and environmental studies, such as demographic analysis, environmental assessment, multimodal plans, integrating bike and pedestrian facilities into the state transportation system, etc. 
  • Performs other responsibilities as required and assigned. 

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program; i.e. geospatial planning, business or public administration, planning or economic development program, Business Administration, Public Administration, Community and Regional Planning, Economic Development, Geography, or related field. 
  • Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
  • Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
