Job Profile
Job Summary
Provides services for the prevention, diagnosis, habilitation, and rehabilitation of communication, swallowing and other upper aerodigestive disorders; elective modification of communication behaviors; and enhancement of communication. Performs related duties such as participation in rounds, clinics, departmental performance improvement and clinic education in accordance with state practice act, applicable regulations, and departmental policy and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees:
Masters degree of Speech Pathology, Communication Disorders or related fields
Licenses & Certification:
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Basic Life Support from approved American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Program.
- Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Texas license through TDLR
Work Experience: Four (4) years experience; Preferred candidates will have experience and/or knowledge of SLP duties and responsibilities within the acute care medical setting including but not limited to evaluation and treatment of dysphagia, expressive and receptive language deficits, cognitive deficits, and motor speech and voice disorders. Additionally, candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are preferred: evaluation and treatment of head and neck cancer patients, evaluation and treatment of neonatal feeding development , and utilization and interpretation of video fluoroscopic swallow studies.
Communication Skills: Above average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)
Language: Bilingual Skills in Spanish
