Why does the job exist?

 

The Supervisor, Accounting will:

  • Translate program changes and new policies into work-flow processes;
  • Review all cash postings to SHARE (deposits); manage and review the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program including reconciliation to DRAMS system, all drawdowns of federal grant monies and necessary adjusting Journal entries;
  • Review and approve all Journal Entries and OPRs created and submitted by staff;
  • Train, develop, and review the work of all staff under their supervision.

How does it get done?

 

The Supervisor, Accounting responsible for:

  • Reviewing daily cash deposits to ensure accurate posting and ensuring that daily deadlines are met;
  • Identifying and documenting all Accounts Receivable functions and documents to create training materials;
  • Reviewing and approving all Journal Entries and OPRs created and submitted by staff;
  • Reviewing the DRAMS monthly and quarterly reconciliation process and acting as primary backup;
  • Identifying areas for streamlining, modernization, and improvement and working with the Bureau Chief to implement new initiatives.

Who are the customers?

 
  • Administrative Services Division (ASD), divisional staff within the Health Care Authority (HCA), other State agencies, and third-party vendors.

Ideal Candidate

 

The Ideal Candidate has experience:

  • In Accounts Receivable;
  • In staff management and supervision;
  • Utilizing PeopleSoft SHARE Financial;
  • Proficiently utilizing Microsoft Excel functions;
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills;
  • Working independently and in a team setting;
  • Multi-tasking.

Minimum Qualification

 

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and three (3) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, preparing Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports, and conducting financial audits. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Must obtain a Defensive Driving certification.

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Travel throughout the state and occasional out of state travel is required.
