Supervisor, Custodian Services

The University of Iowa department of Facilities Management is seeking a Supervisor, Custodian Services to provide general supervision, coordinate, supervise, inspects results, and be responsible for the work activities of custodians in accordance with established guidelines in the Second Shift Service Area. This position is scheduled to work Monday to Friday, 4:30pm – 1:30am, Due to the critical operational needs of the department, this position may be required to work overtime.

Duties to include:

• Understand all employee work assignments and schedule for adequate coverage. 
• Complete 4 hours of administrative time and 4 hours of cleaning time per day. When necessary, complete additional custodial work assignments.
• Interview, select, train and evaluate staff. Provide coaching and direction. Take actions related to promotions and discipline as appropriate. Assist with the training of new employees and retraining as necessary.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain safety standards to assure compliance with federal, state, local and University Regulations.
• Assists in planning procedures and work methods and revises or recommends revisions to improve efficiency of operations and services.
