Supervisor, Education of the Hearing Handicapped (12 Month), SU26
Position Summary: The Supervisor, Education of the Hearing Handicapped supervises, directs and evaluates the performance of Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing working within the New York Public Schools. The Supervisor visits schools to supervise the delivery of services, as appropriate; observe students; review student records; and make instructional recommendations to ensure the appropriate delivery of services both in school and in the home. Performs related work.
Reports to: District 75 Administrative Assistant Superintendent
Direct Reports: Teachers of Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the quality of instruction provided by DHH teachers and the resulting progress.
- Conduct formal and informal observations of staff.
- Assist individual staff members in improving performance.
- Provides professional development and technical assistance to new and experienced DHH Teachers as well as to other school staff.
- Assist principals in the supervision of DHH Teachers, including in the areas of related services and compliance with all mandates.
- Plan and provide professional development activities.
- Assist in the supervision of audiologists and other related service personnel working with deaf and hard of hearing students in self-contained programs.
- Participate in IEP meetings, as necessary.
- Coordinate the ordering and distribution of testing materials and instructional materials for DHH Teachers.
- Substantiates any analyses and ensures that feedback contributes to the overall evaluation of DHH Teachers.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- A valid New York State teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing or Deaf and Hearing Impaired.
- A valid New York State certificate in School Administration/Supervision (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA), School Building Leadership (SBL), or the Administrator Certificate. We do not accept internship certificates.

Preferred
- Three (3) years of experience as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, including at least one (1) year in an educational setting.
Salary: Commensurate with CSA contractual agreement
