This position is located in the Veterans Services Division of the Calfironia Veterans Affairs Headquarters and is responsible for providing assistance to the Assistant Deputy Secretary in implementation and oversight of subvention, housing, and mental health programs related to Federal and State veteran benefits in collaboration with State, Federal, and Local agencies including, but not limited to the Department of Health Care Services, the Department of Housing and Community Development, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) and nonprofit stakeholders.

Special Requirements
Veterans may qualify for a CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference. Military service must be included in the Employment History section of the Employment Applications (STD. 678). The application package must include documentation of discharge, appropriate to the branch of service. The documentation must reflect a discharge/release under conditions other than dishonorable. If the candidate fails to include this information then the CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference shall not be granted in the recruitment.

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. Please note that resumes, cover letters, and/or any other documents do not take the place of the SOQ. Applicants who fail to submit a complete SOQ as instructed and/or fail to submit all of the required documents may be eliminated from the selection process.
The SOQ serves as documentation of your ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. In your SOQ, describe your experience, knowledge, and competencies as they relate to each of the items listed below. The items must be addressed and numbered in the same order as listed; do not consolidate responses. The SOQ must be no more than 2 pages length requirement typed, using 12-point Arial font on standard letter-sized paper with one (1)-inch margins.
- Describe a specific example where you inherited or managed a team where productivity, timeliness, workload management, or accountability by a period of significant change. How did you assess the problem, what actions did you take with your supervisors or staff, and what measurable improvement resulted?
- Describe a specific example of a complex initiative where you had responsibility for bringing together different programs, functions, teams, or organizations that operated independently or had competing priorities. How did you establish a common direction, integrate their efforts, and ensure that the individual pieces contributed to the broader strategic goal?
- Describe your experience with grant administration, ensuring that expenditures, amendments, deliverables, or payments complied with applicable state contracting, fiscal, or program requirements.
