Supervisor of School Psychologist, 10 Month - SU38
Position Summary:
The Supervisor of Psychology supervises, directs and evaluates the performance of School Psychologists working within the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS). The Supervisor oversees the delivery of psychology services; reviews records and advises IEP teams in making recommendations to ensure the appropriate delivery of services for students attending but not limited to private schools, parochial schools, charter schools and New York State funded schools.
Reports to: Director of Inclusion and Transition and Executive Director of School Based Evaluations
Direct Reports: School Psychologists and Social Workers
Key Relationships: Principals, Superintendents, District Superintendent Teams and parents
Responsibilities
- Evaluates the quality of assessments conducted by School Psychologists, School Social Workers and other IEP team staff members and the resulting written reports.
- Reviews assessment reports conducted by contracted agencies
- Conducts informal and formal observations of the IEP team staff members.
- Assists individual staff members in improving performance.
- Collaborates with principals and other school administrators to support Psychologists, School Social Workers and other IEP team members. Participate in the planning and completion of projects.
- Oversees the Initial evaluation process for timely completion.
- Plans and provides professional development and technical assistance.
- Reviews and analyzes all compliance reports and develops plans of action to complete work within compliance deadlines.
- Assists the IEP teams in the areas of time management, compliance with all mandates and case management.
- Participates in IEP meetings as necessary.
- Coordinates the ordering and distribution of testing materials and protocols to Psychologists, School Social Workers and other IEP team members.
- Conducts Resolution Meetings.
- Responsible for all Clustering related activities regarding yearly allocation of SBST services to schools including participation in Deployment Advisory Committee (DAC), professional learning, review and facilitate access to district level data as well as maintain and log accurate information regarding the activity.
Qualification Requirements:
Minimum
- A valid New York State certificate to practice School Psychology Day Sch-0736.
- A valid New York State certification as a School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA),School Building Leader (SBL) or Administrator Certificate. We do not accept internship certificates.

Preferred
- Three (3) years of experience as a School Psychologist, including at least one (1) year in an educational setting
- At least one (1) year experience as a Supervisor of School Psychologists
- Knowledge of the continuum of services, Regulations of the Commissioner, Chancellor's Regulations,
Jose P. Issues, Mediation and Impartial Hearing process and the SOPM
- Ability to communicate with parents, agencies and school personnel; and
- Satisfactory rating.
Salary: Commensurate with CSA contractual agreement
