Job Description Summary

After attending course lectures, the SI Leader will conduct and prepare for organized, collaborative group study sessions on a weekly basis. The ideal candidate must possess strong communication skills, the ability to engage students, enjoy the subject matter, and have a passion for learning and applying new skills and strategies to enhance student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Attend lectures for target SI courses.
  • Complete professional development activities
  • Conduct weekly organized study sessions.
  • Prepare for each session, which may include hand-outs and worksheets.
  • Record session attendance.
  • Attend orientation, monthly meetings, and other meetings scheduled as needed.
  • Complete all assignments/documentation required by TLC and Payroll on time.
  • Meet with course faculty weekly.
  • Conduct weekly office hours in the TLC
  • Promote the SI Program and weekly sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • A GPA of 3.0 or better
  • A grade of A or A- in the course (or equivalent course) for which you lead
  • Faculty Recommendation
  • Outstanding time management skills
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills and strategies to enhance collaboration for student learning
  • Promote the SI program and tutoring
  • Ability to follow policy and procedures set by TLC and Chapman University
  • Responsible and committed to those being served

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience tutoring individuals or groups
  • Prior use of TLC Services, tutoring, academic mentoring, and/or SI attendance. Experience tutoring individuals or groups
