Southeast Missouri Residential Services is a State of Missouri facility located at 2351 Kanell Blvd in Poplar Bluff, MO.  We are professional, agile and innovative.

We're looking for a Support Care Assistant to join our team of nurses who help provide one-on-one care for our consumers.  A successful candidate has previous experience working with the developmentally disable, a strong work ethic and an active interest in helping to care for our consumers, and this is absolutely true.  It's extremely rewarding, since many of our consumers are living well.

Shifts include:  7:00 am - 7:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 7:00 am, with some mandatory overtime in order to meet the needs of the facility.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

  • Hands-on, direct care to clients including observations, treatment, and monitoring
  • First-level direct care accountable for assisting clients with daily activities such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks.
  • Scheduling/Supervising as required in the absence of the Supervising Support Care Assistant.
  •  Develop and/or implement habilitation or treatment plans.
  •  Teach or assist in developing client skills related to self-help, play, education, and socialization.
  • Assist and/or provide basic health care for clients, such a checking vital signs and height/weight.
  •  Assists in checking vital signs, height, and weight as assigned; collects and maintains records of fluid intake and output; and reports on the condition of clients.
  •  May perform internal environment of care checks or perform some security-related functions in a mental health care setting.
  •  Maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities.
  •  Performing moderately complex duties without detailed instruction; Performs other related work as assigned.
  •  Reporting to work on time and as scheduled.
  •  Working overtime as needed to retain adequate staffing.
  • Requires heavy lifting up to 50 pounds and the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • May be responsible for passing medications (as medication aide) after certification by facility officials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - All you need for success

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
  • Possess adequate vision to read written material.
  • Possess adequate hearing.
  • Must pass a background screening.
  • Knowlege of the general care and treatment of clients, including basic nursing, first aid and emergency treatments.  Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric populations.  Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed.
  • Knowledge of elementary behavior medication techniques, medical terminology, and drug classifications.  Ability to prepare and maintain records, charts, and reports.
