About this role
California Correctional Health Care Services is hiring an Analyst I to support the California State Teachers’ Retirement System Survivor Benefits Production team. The role manages average-difficulty and escalated cases, processes survivor benefits accurately and timely, and provides empathetic guidance to members and beneficiaries while applying relevant laws, rules, and policies.
What you'll do:
- Under the supervision of the Supervisor I, the Analyst l in Survivor Benefits performs a wide range of analytical duties while managing their own caseload of average difficulty and escalated cases to ensure the accurate and timely processing of benefits

- Ability to provide empathetic, clear, and professional assistance to members and beneficiaries, including explaining complex issues in simple terms during challenging situations
- Proven experience managing multiple priorities and tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines
- Skilled in interpreting and applying laws, rules, and policies accurately
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex calculations and apply mathematical concepts accurately
- Ability to evaluate complex issues, draw logical conclusions, develop clear recommendations, and produce high-quality staff work
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on team
- Well-developed caseload management skills
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment with CalSTRS
- Upon appointment, staff are required to provide a current California address to CalSTRS Human Resources to be used as a remote work location
