About this role
IBM is a global technology and consulting company that develops cloud, AI, and infrastructure solutions. The AI Center of Excellence is seeking a Software Developer Intern to design, develop, test, and secure AI applications using IBM watsonx, pretrained models, and IBM Cloud while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
What you'll do:
- 1) Design, develop, and test AI applications and services
- 2) Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices
- 3) Follow security best practices in development to meet IBM’s policies and industry standards
- 4) Communicate progress, challenges, and technical decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- 5) Participate in agile/scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
- 6) Collaborate with technical account managers, UX/UI designers, architects, and other stakeholders to integrate AI components seamlessly into the overall solution
- 7) Stay updated on emerging trends in generative AI, IBM Cloud services, and relevant technologies
What they're looking for:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimally, the incumbent will possess:
- 1) Experience as a full stack developer with a focus in AI and an understanding of backend technologies, including server-side languages (Node.js, Python, Java) and databases (Cassandra, PostgreSQL, etc.)
- 2) Experience in web technologies: HTTP, REST, JSON, HTML, Ajax, JavaScript etc as well as a familiarity with AI/ML frameworks like PyTorch, Hugging Face, or OpenAI API
- 3) Basic understanding of LLM prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques
- 4) Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines for efficient development workflows
- 5) Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges effectively
- 6) Strong collaboration skills, having worked effectively with design and engineering teams to include effective verbal & written communication skills in English
- Bachelor's Degree
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, Systems Engineering, Data Sciences or related majors
- 1) The IBM watsonx product portfolio and IBM Cloud Infrastructure
- 2) Experience in deploying and fine-tuning models like Granite, Mistral, or Llama 3
