SW Developer Intern | Enterprise Platform-as-a-Service - Durham, NC - 2027

IBM is seeking an intern to gain hands-on experience contributing to meaningful technology projects in a collaborative development environment. The role focuses on designing and deploying cloud-based IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions, developing scalable applications and databases, creating intuitive APIs, and integrating AI capabilities across cloud and on-premises environments.

What you'll do:

• Participating in Agile development cycles, including design, coding, testing, and support
• Transforming wireframes into intuitive, functional user experiences
• Applying software engineering and testing best practices to deliver high-quality solutions
• Leveraging AI-powered tools to enhance development efficiency and productivity
• Integrating AI capabilities to make our platform solutions easier to deploy, use, and scale

What they're looking for:

• • Prior (project or internship) experience in software development and/or platform engineering
• • Strong verbal and written communication skills
• • Passion for technology and engineering

• • Working knowledge of servers, applications, devOps tools (Git, Jenkins) and databases
• Bachelor's Degree
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, Systems Engineering, Data Sciences or related majors
• • Cloud development (pushing code through a CD pipeline)
• • Generative AI practical application in development environment to include prompt engineering
• • One or more of the following technologies: C++, C, Java, Golang, Ruby, Python, Perl, SQL
• • Virtualization concepts and cloud operations
• • Working knowledge of one or more major DataBases: MongoDB, MySQL, Postgres
