Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Integration Engineer located at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH supporting the Air Force F-15 Division.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 

  • Possesses the knowledge, experience, and demonstrated ability to perform complex systems integration engineering tasks independently within program/project guidelines. 
  • Applies appropriate systems engineering, risk assessment, airworthiness certification, and system safety processes in support of F-15 Division programs. 
  • Demonstrates ability to review and develop program documentation, evaluate technical proposals, analyze failure reports, and provide system safety engineering support consistent with MIL-STD-882E and USAF standards. 
  • Experience with system safety risk assessments, hazard analysis, mishap investigations, and managing safety compliance in aerospace programs. 
  • Able to work independently and coordinate with government and contractor personnel at program and staff levels. 

 

EDUCATION: 

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience and an ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering.   

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 

  • Training in system safety engineeringsuch as Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity LMS, Systems Safety Management Course (SSM-102), or equivalent. 
  • Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882E and familiarity with USAF airworthiness certification processes. 
  • Experience supporting military aerospace programs, preferably with the F-15 Division or related platforms. 
  • Familiarity with Configuration Control Boards (CCB), Airworthiness Review Boards (ARB), and USAF Safety Automated System. 
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Review, develop, and update systems integration engineering documentation and system safety program plans. 
  • Participate in and assist planning and execution of system engineering risk assessments and airworthiness certification activities. 
  • Analyze Built-in Test (BIT) failure reports, system performance, and technical proposals for design feasibility and system compatibility. 
  • Support Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) process development aligned with program acquisition and sustainment strategies. 
  • Perform hazard analysis, risk assessments, and support mishap investigations with multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Manage hazard tracking logs and safety documentation, including risk acceptance packages for high-risk items. 
  • Organize and co-chair annual System Safety Group meetings with government and contractor representatives. 
  • Support requests for waivers, deviations, and Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings to ensure system safety compliance. 
  • Participate in program reviews, crisis management, and technical evaluations to resolve safety concerns. 
  • Maintain compliance with USAF/DoD safety and airworthiness standards, including MIL-STD-882E and AFI 91-202.
