Systems Security Engineer I

V2X builds smart solutions that integrate physical and digital infrastructure to support security, logistics, and mission readiness. The company is seeking a Systems Security Engineer I to support cybersecurity for advanced airborne and ground mission systems through secure configurations, vulnerability management, security documentation, and Risk Management Framework compliance activities.

What you'll do:

• Assist with system categorization and initial control mapping to NIST SP 800 53
• Support development and maintenance of System Security Plans, POA&Ms, and security evidence repositories
• Execute baseline vulnerability scans and document findings for remediation tracking
• Apply standard configuration baselines and STIG checklists to assigned components
• Help assemble inputs for Security Assessment Plans and assessment activities
• Support basic control verification activities and collect test evidence during integration or lab events

• Self-driven with a strong sense of accountability, able to manage tasks and deliver quality work on schedule
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain an Active DoD Secret Clearance
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Fundamental understanding of System Security processes
• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools, STIG concepts, and basic hardening procedures
• Collaborative mindset with active listening and respect for diverse viewpoints
• Bachelor's Degree in or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related discipline **including those with degrees in-progress with completion** **expected by May 2027 (or earlier).**
• Previous internships or experience with development projects is desired
• Current Active DoD Secret or higher Clearance
