Systems Security Engineer Intern, Summer 2027

V2X builds smart solutions that integrate physical and digital infrastructure to support security, logistics, and mission readiness. The company is seeking a Systems Security Engineering Intern to support cybersecurity for advanced mission systems through secure configuration, vulnerability management, security documentation, and Risk Management Framework activities.

What you'll do:

• Assist with system categorization and initial control mapping to NIST SP 800 53
• Support development and maintenance of System Security Plans, POA&Ms, and security evidence repositories
• Help execute baseline vulnerability scans and document findings for remediation tracking
• Apply standard configuration baselines and STIG checklists to assigned lab or development components under guidance
• Assist in assembling inputs for Security Assessment Plans and assessment activities
• Support basic control verification activities and collect test evidence during integration or lab events

What they're looking for:

• Completed introductory coursework in cybersecurity, information assurance, or networking
• Self-driven with a strong sense of accountability, able to manage tasks and deliver quality work on schedule
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's (or Master's) Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related discipline
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Fundamental understanding of System Security processes
• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools, STIG concepts, and basic hardening procedures
• Collaborative mindset with active listening and respect for diverse viewpoints
