Systems Security Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)

RTX is an aerospace and defense company offering internships focused on complex engineering and security challenges. The Systems Security Engineering Intern will develop embedded security solutions that protect technology advantages in embedded weapons systems, leveraging anti-tamper, cybersecurity, software assurance, and supply chain risk management.

What you'll do:

• Develop embedded security solutions to protect the Warfighter’s technology advantage
• Support Program Protection Implementation on embedded weapons systems

What they're looking for:

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in an applicable discipline, specifically Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through completion of the internship
• Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.​ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
• Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
• Prior internship, co-op or work experience
• Applied engineering on-the-job experience, research, coursework or projects with exposure in one or more of the following domains: systems engineering, software or firmware development, systems integration and/or test, ASIC development, digital electronics design, model-based systems engineering, or similar work history
• Experience supporting DoD programs or a working knowledge of DoD directives such as DODI-S-5230.28
• Active/Current DoD security clearance
• Exceptional creativity, problem-solving abilities, communication, and interpersonal skills
