About this role
The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Software Engineer to join the FishTools program supporting the Space Mission Systems Software Team in Chantilly, VA, Mesa, AZ, or Aurora, CO. Teams are hiring across a broad range of experience levels, including Associate and Experienced Software Engineers.
The FishTools program develops and maintains a Collection Planning and Mission Management system widely used within the Intelligence community. The system supports imaging operations by facilitating the scheduling, analysis, and mission awareness of multiple space imaging platforms. The team is looking for a skilled, motivated, and creative software systems engineer to develop innovative solutions and support existing capabilities of an agile software program for the national intelligence community.
## Position Responsibilities
- Support and plan software development tasks, including detailed software design, coding, and unit, integration, functional, and system testing of customer-desired features and user stories, ensuring acceptance criteria are met.
- Develop and sustain new and existing applications, and troubleshoot and resolve software issues.
- Present to customers and stakeholders and prepare reports.
- Brief software designs and demonstrate software release functionality to customers, stakeholders, and end users.
- Analyze high-level customer requirements and derive lower-level functional requirements.
- Contribute to the creation of distributed components and interactions aligned with the future system architecture. The existing multi-tiered system runs on cloud infrastructure and includes several consumer-facing web applications.
## Security Clearance and Customer Verification
Requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required. A U.S. Security Clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active. A final U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with an adjudicated Counterintelligence Polygraph post-start is required. The position is contingent upon program/customer concurrence and security approval for program access.
## Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- At least 1 year of experience analyzing data and/or identifying functional and systems requirements with customers.
- At least 1 year of systems engineering experience, including system architecture development, systems integration, and/or hardware/software design and analysis.
- At least 1 year of experience developing presentations and briefing customers.
- Familiarity with Agile or SAFe practices, including daily standups, user stories, sprints, and release planning.
## Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Level 3: 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A Bachelor of Science in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience; or 13+ years of related, relevant experience.
- Experience leading projects and/or individuals in software development lifecycle tasks.
- Knowledge of the Agile software development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of project planning processes and tools, including project management software, to define, design, and plan projects, achieve deliverables, optimize internal and external resources, and accomplish business results.
- Effective use of Atlassian products such as Jira, Confluence, and Crucible.
## Additional Information
- Successful candidates must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest assessment process.
- Expected to work 100% onsite at one of the listed locations.
- Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

- Pay is based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range for Associate level (Level 2): USD $94,350–$136,850. Summary pay range for Experienced level (Level 3): USD $118,150–$171,350.

Available programs and options may vary based on eligibility factors.
- The Boeing 401(k) matches contributions dollar for dollar, up to 10% of eligible pay, with immediate 100% vesting. Eligible enrolled U.S. employees may also qualify for the Student Loan Match program.
