Tax Accountant

The Tax Accountant role involves preparing and reviewing tax returns, processing payroll tax payments, and providing quality control for accounting work, all while ensuring excellent customer service and training for staff.

What you'll do:

• Perform tax projections and prepare/review tax returns
• Process payroll tax payments and prepare payroll tax forms
• Review and provide quality control for payroll & bookkeeping work performed by the Tax & Accounting Assistant, intern, or temp
• Actively and aggressively market tax & accounting services to current and prospective customers
• Assist in training and guidance for tax & accounting staff
• Providing excellent internal and external customer service will be at the core of your daily interactions
• This role will also consist of daily customer interactions, such as answering incoming calls and in office customer meetings

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in public accounting or tax planning & preparation is required
• Must pass the Farm Credit Income Tax Certification Exam after beginning employment
• Strong understanding of tax laws and accounting principles
• CPA or Enrolled Agent designation is preferred
• Agricultural background
• Strong computer skills
• Strong leadership qualities and demonstrated initiative
• Technical experience with individual, partnership and corporate tax returns, tax research, and tax software
